Hi, I'm Lisa Makeeva

I’m a functional registered dietitian who takes deep personal and professional satisfaction in helping my clients solve their hormonal and digestive symptoms. My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices and a profound appreciation for the uniqueness of each individual’s biochemistry.
My number one goal is to figure out the root cause of your symptoms and encourage your body’s innate ability for healing through movement, customized nutrition, and nervous system support.
Dealing with my own health struggles from an early age and realizing the limitations of conventional medicine forced my family and I to take matters into our own hands. Although it seemed clear to us that my issues were in fact related to the foods I was consuming, this notion was routinely dismissed by every doctor we saw. Nonetheless, we trusted our instincts and after a complete overhaul of my diet and lifestyle, I finally began to see my skin clear up. This experience is what sparked my interest in the power of food as medicine and ultimately led me to pursue 7+ years of schooling in the field of nutrition.
I currently live in the Greater Toronto area with my partner and our Siberian cat Sophie. Running, yoga, and traveling are among my top hobbies. I can’t wait to meet you!
What's the difference between a Registered Dietitian (RD) and a "health coach" or "nutritionist" ?
Registered dietitians are the most qualified professionals when it comes to nutrition. In order to put RD next to our names, we have to undergo a 4-year bachelor's program, a supervised internship, pass a national exam, and maintain this title through lifelong continuing education. Many RD's also hold a master's degree.
Nowadays, there are many people dolling out nutrition advice on the internet - those without any credentials, varying degrees of formal training, or lack thereof. Dietitians are accountable to provincial regulatory bodies for the highest standards of education and ethics, similar to doctors and engineers. Lisa works hard to ensure she upholds and delivers this same caliber to her work with all her clients and clinics alike.
